I think this version would have been better if they just adapted the idea, rather than the characters from the original (see LJG's character). It would have been more salvageable that way. I don't think anyone could just replicate Reid too because MGG is quirky irl and he injected parts of him in Reid that made him so, so endearing.
Oh I so agree, honestly it’s always a challenge adapting a story and even more so when it’s so beloved. If the characters had been new or the actors allowed to make them their own, it would have definitely helped with the chemistry and could help to distract from the messy profiling; at least it’d have been one less thing to fix... Also, having new characters gives us something to look forward too as well; those who’ve seen the original already know the characters so well so we can’t get invested in these ones so much.
I feel like Lee Joon Gi and his portrayal of Hyun Joon will definitely help to improve the team dynamics and help improve the acting perspective as well; he wasn’t really much in the first two episodes I feel, but now that he’s joined the team I think it’s going to pick up. Plus, his profiling is better too sooo....
