I canvassed some future teachers today, okay wait, let me back up. We went to some student housing areas because Jamie had a bad morning canvassing experience and one of our people wanted to give us a softball for morale lol. It went just okay but I fucking love talking to 18-22 year-olds, which is fwiw mainly what I do for a living. They will NEVER shut the door on you unless they’re like daydrunk or a bro. They will just let you lecture them and they know you’re right. Amazing. Anyway I met a few people in the college of ed, gave them the Bernie teacher pitch--one of the easiest! Told them about how when I was in the college of ed, America hated teachers unions more than anything, and I can’t believe how far we’ve come. One of them told me she’s already buying supplies for her classroom, in one of her field placements.

this is re: the critique in the nonsite roundable--which might be a reasonable critique to consider--that we never should have accepted that teachers and nurses were ever relating to capital (that is, in the pmc) in the same way that professors were. THIS tweet is why people become adolph reed class first freaks. this bitch is tenure track. what kind of nerve, to say this. THIS is what i would call bad faith, not materialist, not dialectical...while the fucking ctu is on strike. this fucking woman

i mean, en why you is not (?) gonna be waiving application fees anytime, right. it’s interesting to see how departments represent these things that are fundamentally (as i see it) really about a power struggle with ets (etc.), and what kind of work it’s doing for ex. en why you to say that they are eliminating exclusionary bureaucracy. you know what i think about the gre, that these departments can’t say in this moment of the #altac job training phd or whatever? i think that no matter how many programs address the financial barrier etc. (my gre was paid for by one such program), like, even beyond the obvious stuff about test taking capital, i think the gre is otherwise about human capital. i think the degree to which it wastes the time and brain-energy of young scholar-workers is a real crisis. but we’re not allowed to say that because we’re supposed to be like well-rounded or whatever.... it leeched our brain power!

I used to believe that the goal of teaching history at the college level should be to teach research and writing methods that are very broadly applicable but now I think the goal of teaching history at the college level should be fucking content so that I never have to see another millennial post on facebook that land acquisition came about because baby boomers really just wanted big houses
