For the made-up fic title game, would you mind doing "Dragon's Eye"?
(I tend to have dragons on the mind and it sounded kinda cool lol)
It does sound cool! 🐉
not sure which fandom you'd prefer, so I flipped a coin for it! and the result is.... 🥁
"Don't be ridiculous. Dragons are not real."
"Of course they aren't," Elias agrees, in that infuriating tone of voice that's two degrees away from laughter. "Yet the idea of them retains power, does it not?"
A statement-giver flees the institute, leaving behind a pewter-cast eyeball the size of a small melon and a half-written statement in Proto-Nordic. No one can translate it, and Elias certainly won't sign off on the budget to track down a professional to translate the ramblings of a madman.
Jon, as usual, wants nothing to do with it, so why in the hell does the eyeball keep winding back in the archives? It's not Tim's doing, he complains every time he has to carry the surprisingly-heavy thing back upstairs to deliver it to Artifact Storage. It's not Sasha or Martin's doing, either, because why in the world would they play such a childish prank?
More importantly, why do they keep finding lizards in the archives? This is all getting quite ridiculous, but Jon brushes off the complaints. It's a pest problem. Let Elias hire someone to take care of it. It's fine. Weird, but still normal.
(Normal, he insists, until he finds the crack in the eye, and starts wondering if it's actually an eye at all.)
