i used to have a lot more control over my life than i do now, but honestly i'm starting to think that's ok. structure was lonely. i may've had a consistent sleep schedule, routines i kept up with, and generally maintained the image of someone that has their shit together far better than i do now, but it wasn't worth coming home to an empty apartment for as long as i did.
the adjustment period to living with 3 other people again (a little bit 4 right now lol) has absolutely been rough - but my friends have put up all their decorations and i look around this house with the sinking realization that it never felt like a home. i never knew how to make it feel like one - strangely, i'm only just now learning how to take up space now that it's not just mine.
and when i see my jewel and my cherry sitting outside sharing a bowl at 10pm, i want nothing more than to join them. i'll wake up late and a little horribly the next day but i never regret it. there was a time in my life i thought i'd never touch weed lol
mush and i sit at the top of the stairs talking about emotional struggles and learning to handle all of the new change in our lives, and i have to take a second to just pause and remind myself this isn't a house guest. i'm sharing my life with him for the foreseeable future and that thought clears the dreariness after a breakdown.
the next day we do our first dispo run since they moved in and it takes me a minute to identify the sinking feeling i have on the way back - that subconsciously i'm sad we're headed back because that always meant saying goodbye for the day after. i have to remind myself there's no saying goodbye here, we're all going home and staying home.
i spent a good amount of time chasing the prospect of living with a person who, ultimately, never had my best interests at heart. i never thought i'd feel love like that again - let alone love that'd follow through for me. i didn't feel worthy of it, sometimes i still don't. but i see a house full of people who not only love me but put in the work to show it, and i have to think "god, it never had to be that hard, did it?"
