⭒࿐࿔⠀⠀⠀A love that has spanned decades yet remains unresolved, and the story of adults who carefully manage their emotions to avoid having their lives turned completely upside down—it’s a narrative that’s a surefire way to get me completely hooked. Watching the slowly smoldering affection and the incredibly sweet mutual longing unfold together has been satisfying.

Emma’s character development has been really grounded, particularly the depiction of her insecurity and the reasons behind her marriage to Hario. It was not a decision born of love, but rather stemmed from her desperate need to escape her mother’s emotional abuse. Her relationship with Hario provides her with comfort and stability, and he fills the “emptiness” she feels. However, as Takara’s presence grows in her life again, she realizes that clinging to convention and burying her desires actually creates another kind of emptiness, and she comes to understand that now, finally, is the time to face change.

The final volume is a delicious emotional whirlwind. Their relationship was reaching a critical moment that would change everything, and as the conclusion unfolded, I couldn’t help but hold my breath and watch intently.
