According to my calculations... Round 1 of the Nerd Tournament is almost complete!
Round 1 was set to be a week long - this was to really give people a chance to find this blog and to rally 'round their character of choice to get them past that initial first round.
Round 2 will be 24 hours - more fast-paced! - with further rounds likely being set to the same length (with the final round possibly being set back to being a week long to round it off; this is as yet undecided). These next round(s) will be a test of fans' ability to mobilise quickly & effectively to help give their character of choice a shot at making it through.
After Round 2, there will be a character revival round. Characters who lost in the first two rounds but still garnered a significant amount of votes will all be placed in a singular 24 hour poll and you will have the chance to vote the character of your choice back in to the tournament! From this poll, a total of three characters who get the most votes to be revived will have another chance at the tournament. They will be placed into the character pool for the match-ups for Round 3.
For Round 1 match-ups, characters were segregated based on media type; this will no longer be the case for Round 2. Round 2 match-ups will involve all characters being pooled together and then the match-ups randomised (just like how randomisation was used in Round 1). See here for more information about how match-ups were completed for Round 1 (and for why randomisation is employed).

I want to leave up the checklist posts and let them sit for at least 24hr (to give people a chance to make any corrections) which does indeed mean the start of the polls being posted will be delayed slightly. Will probably then be posting the polls themselves on Friday the 17th (in my timezone, GMT+10) because of My Birthday this week “getting in the way” hahaha :)
