Some of my favourite references for the WSQK which I’ve not really seen anyone talk about are!
• Vance’s name obviously an anagram for Vecna but D&D Vecna was actually an anagram for Vance in the first place as he was named after fantasy SI-FI writer Jack Vance
• References made by Vance and Update-Guy to the Orson Welles Radio adaptation of War of The Worlds ( a radio play which mimics a real radio while being scripted like the WSQK ). Vance make’s off handed remarks about why Aliens would come to America but what’s a more interesting nod is during the new year’s countdown where Update-Guy complains that listeners are calling in and jamming up the phone panicking about Aliens ( something that happened during the broadcast of war of the worlds according to biased newspapers )
