Increasingly there are studies which point that the chances of you contracting COVID-19 through food deliveries is very less as the viral load exposure won't be much .So I am more than comfortable ordering through @swiggyindia . The other day I was browsing through it when I came across this outlet called Dingan's Kitchen listed. Dingan is kind of an iconic mouse Superhero which made its appearance in Malayalam Children's magazine Balamangalam in 1984 . Eventhough I was more of a Balarama Mayavi fan than Dingan, I was really piqued by the name as Dinkoism , an atheist movement parodying religious fallacies had gained popularity in recent years. Yuktivadis or Rationalist Advocates are a tribe which had pretty much led to a lot of social reform in Kerala . So to think that someone could name his restaurant after this was pretty interesting to me. The most interesting dish on their menu was the Uppumavu Kizhi. Uppu Mavu in Malayalam means Salt Dough . Uppumavu gained prominence in Kerala because semolina was widely used post 1960 in the mid day meal scheme to be fed as breakfast to children. That again was immortalised in the movie Doore Doore Oru Koodu Kootam ( 1988) where a student asks Mohanlal what is the English word for Uppumavu. He feigns a headache only to come up with Salt Mango Tree, a literal translation which makes Menaka burst out laughing. Coming to the Kizhi Uppumavu , It had semolina which had been roasted rather well so that their texture started mimicking really fine couscous. This uppumavu was enveloping a delicious melt in mouth Beef Masala making it almost like a Upma Biryani encased in a banana leaf. It was packed with a side of acidic cucumber, cabbage & tomato salad which really helped cut through all the heat. The overall thing was so good that even my parents couldn't stop raving about it. I think I am ready to worship Dingan too! #foodloose #dingan #kitchen #beef #uppumavu #keralam #atheist #movement #semolina #naadan #couscous #balamangalam #dinkan #dinkoism #supermouse #comics #comichero #saltmangotree #mohanlal #menaka (at Dingan Kitchen) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCD5X5qFlj9/?igshid=19qid88ai4v5y
