Day 5 of #KGOpenHeartedWarriors is Urdhva Dhanurasana (Upward Facing Bow) pose. 🎡 This pose is a huge challenge for me. HUGE. It requires so much in terms of range of motion for the shoulders, the hips, the wrists, and the spine! Each time I visit her, she definitely teaches me some lessons....how to breathe, how to stay, how to not panic, how to stay mindful, you name it. I haven't practiced it much lately due to SI issues. And, if I am coming in, you better believe that I am doing my damndest not to compress in the low back. A block between the thighs is my go-to to keep my upper glutes from over clenching, which will help keep some space around those SI joints. 🌠🌠🌠 I need to be seriously warmed up in order to attempt this posture...and for me it's not just a few quick poses. Before coming in to this, I took an hour long heated vinyasa class full of down dog, dolphin, core awareness, lunges, and twists. The yoga wheel also helps! And, when in doubt?
