Halal is one of the most cruelest methods of killing an animals. It requires the animal to bleed to death :( It also has to be slaughtered by muslims with their prayers.
Sikhs and Hindus do not eat halal - it is against their religion. They eat 'zataka' ie the animal is killed in an instant and not bled to death. They also do not want islamic prayers to be recited when killing animals.
