ÀRNICA - is a Barcelona based project. 

The artist's interests are deep rooted in the ancient Iberian culture and traditions. Their music is a mix of traditional Pyrenne Folk and heathen Battle and Hunting-songs. Their first fullength-album „Viejo Mundo“ is a tale narrated by an old man as his last legacy to a casual traveler. In a hut and near by fire the traveler will be the depositor of ancient knowledge about forgotten gods, wisdom of life, tradition and statements of war. All lyrics and singing is in spanish or catalan language. A wide range of instruments is used, on top of them accordion, guitars, drums and flutes. ÀRNICA creates wild and rural atmospheres, quite similar to their friends from STURMPERCHT, but just from the opposite part of the holy Alps.

This thriple-split CD is a unique compendium of South European folk music, inspired by Balkan, Catalan and Hellenic traditional culture. The sources and the stylistic devices of the three artists are quite different and descending from three different cultural regions, but there is just one intention and one deep mythological spirit, that unites the musicians to build up an axis through the mediterranean sunlit landscapes. On this album you will drown into the ritual, Alpine-Folk shamanism of Árnica, using a wide range of traditional instruments and the spirit of Catalunya - Svarrogh drags you to the deep and dark forests of Bulgaria by slavic chants, where you will meet the god Veles in his wooden shrine – and you will waft through a droning and apocalyptic haze to the powerful and emotional hellenic spheres of Défilé des Ames from Greece.

Àrnica is an Iberian based project with deep Roots into Ur-Folk music, recovering Traditions and Culture of pre-Roman Iberia. Traditional and handmade instruments are used to give voice to the ancestors.
