please take a moment to visit astrobrights FB page and request they offer "Uranus Brown"
People ask me why I don't vote.
Don't I want to have a voice?
Don't I have a responsibility as a citizen,
as a recipient of social services,
as a minority?
Don't I want to make social change?
Don't I give a shit?
I don't believe in playing a fixed game,
I don't work inside the system,
I make change everyday with the choices that I make,
living my life as an example of the values I support.
and when I see a need for change,
I take a stand and work toward it.
So little me tell you about a little
paper corporation called Astrobright.
Astrobright offers 23 bright, eye catching
paper choices in both index and cover stocks.
Each colors' name refers somehow to space
to emphasize the exciting and ethereal quality of the paper.
The name need not be relevant to the color
as long as it refers
to SPACE.
For example,
Solar Yellow
Galaxy Gold
Pulsar Pink
Celestial Blue
Lunar Blue
Gamma Green
and Plantary Purple.
However, in my work experience
I have identified one, glaring omission
in the Astrobright catalog of color expression:
Uranus Brown.
Brown is the product of primary colors combined.
it is the color of earth, a planet afterall.
the word is rooted in The Common Germanic adjective
*brûnoz, which refered to the color brown
in addition to a "glistening or shining quality"
what better symbol to represent astrobright ideology?
At present Astrobright has approximately 26,000 likes
on facebook.
On their page consumers can ask questions about astrobright products such as:
Do you have recommendations for origami? or
Do you offer full sheet label stock?
And offer praise like, Jan who states with enthusiam,
"My Astrobrights Solar Yellow matches my southwest sunset beautifully! Thank you Astrobrights for making papers to go with everything =)
or Meg Waldron - who gives a shit - with the following proposal,
"23 colors? Why not make it an even 24 with the introduction of a 24# Uranus Brown."
I'm not quitting. I'm taking a stand.
I'm having a voice.
Uranus Brown isn't just about bright brown paper, it's about a dream.
It's about MY dream.
And I'm going to fight for it.
Astobright,
URanus = MY dreams fulfillment
They haven't made the color yet,
but that hasn't stopped me from advertising Uranus Brown
on Astrobright's facebook wall daily.
Uranus Brown looks great with anything.
For letterhead or adding flair to business fliers,
the cover stock even works for business cards.
bright brown, earthy color but with extra-terrestrial excitement
sometimes, getting lost in the color's richness
I truly feel i've been transported to uranus and back.
never has uranus felt closer astrobright
seventh planet from the sun,
first paper in my heart.
Voting, no thank you.
Step aside.
I got some fuckin' paper to push.
