رسم الخط کیا ہے؟

یوں تو کمپیوٹر کی دنیا میں داخل ہونے والا ایک عام انسان بھی رسم الخط (Font) کے بارے میں جانتا ہے لیکن کئی بار ایسا دیکھنے اور سننے کو ملا ہے جس سے معلوم ہوتا ہے کہ ہمارے کچھ لوگ رسم الخط کے بارے میں کچھ خاص نہیں جانتے۔ ایک دفعہ ایک دوست کمپیوٹر میں اردو لکھنے کی کوشش کر رہا تھا لیکن کامیاب نہ ہو سکا تو مجھ سے رابطہ کیا۔ موصوف کہتے ہیں کہ جناب ہم نے رسم الخط (Font) اپنے کمپیوٹر میں نصب کیا ہے لیکن پھر بھی اردو نہیں لکھ پا رہے۔ 

پھر انہیں رسم الخط کے بارے میں کچھ بتایا تو جناب کو سمجھ آئی۔ اب میں نے سوچا ہو سکتا ہے کہ میرے اْس دوست جیسے کئی لوگ موجود ہوں جو رسم الخط کے بارے میں کچھ خاص نہ جانتے ہوں تو اس لئے میں یہاں رسم الخط کے بارے میں کچھ وضاحت کر دیتا ہوں۔ عام طور پر ہر بندے کا ہاتھ سے لکھنے کا انداز الگ الگ ہوتا ہے۔ کوئی بڑا بڑا لکھتا ہے تو کوئی چھوٹا چھوٹا کوئی خوبصورت لکھتا ہے تو کوئی عجیب عجیب لکھتا ہے۔ بس اس لکھنے کے انداز کو ہی رسم الخط یعنی فونٹ کہتے ہیں۔ 

کمپیوٹر میں بھی لکھائی کے مختلف انداز یعنی رسم الخط موجود ہوتے ہیں جو ہمیں پسند ہو وہ ہم استعمال کر لیتے ہیں اور اْس کا جو سائز چاہیں کر لیتے ہیں پھر سیدھا یا ٹیڑھا بھی کر لیتے ہیں۔ کمپیوٹر کی دنیا میں ہر رسم الخط کا کام صرف اور صرف ہمیں لکھائی ایک خاص انداز میں دکھانا ہوتا ہے۔ کمپیوٹر کو لکھائی کے انداز سے کوئی غرض نہیں کمپیوٹر بس یہ دیکھتا ہے کہ آپ کونسی زبان اور کیا لکھ رہے ہیں۔ کمپیوٹر میں رسم الخط کو اگر تکنیکی انداز میں دیکھیں تو رسم الخط بناتے ہوئے یہ واضح کیا جاتا ہے کہ کس عدد کے متبادل کونسے حرف یا لفظ کی شکل دیکھانا ہے۔ 

اصل میں ہوتا یہ ہے کہ جب ہم کسی زبان کا انتخاب کر کے کوئی کنجی دباتے ہیں تو اْس کے متبادل ایک خاص عدد کمپیوٹر کو ملتا ہے پھر کمپیوٹر ہمارے منتخب کیے ہوئے رسم الخط پر جاتا ہے اور دیکھتا ہے کہ جو عدد مجھے ملا ہے رسم الخط میں اس عدد کے متبادل کونسی شکل موجود ہے۔ جب اسے عدد کے متبادل شکل ملتی ہے تو کمپیوٹر اْس شکل کو ہماری مانیٹر سکرین پر ظاہر کر دیتا ہے۔ ان سب باتوں سے ہمیں پتہ چلتا ہے کہ رسم الخط کا کام صرف اور صرف تحریر کا انداز یعنی کمپیوٹر کو اعداد کے بدلے حروف یا الفاظ کی شکل مہیا کرنا ہے۔

کمپیوٹر میں اردو، انگریزی یا کوئی بھی زبان لکھنے سے رسم الخط کا صرف اور صرف اتنا تعلق ہے کہ وہ آپ کو لکھائی کس انداز میں دکھائے۔ عام طور پر انٹرنیٹ پر جو رسم الخط موجود ہیں وہ Zip ہوئے ہوتے ہیں۔ انٹرنیٹ سے رسم الخط کو اتارنے کے بعد اْسے کسی سافٹ ویئر کے ساتھ UnZip کر لیں۔ اس کے بعد خاص رسم الخط کی فائل کو کاپی کریں پھر Start پھر Run پر کلک کریں اور وہاں fonts لکھ کر Ok کر دیں۔ نئی ظاہر ہونے والی ونڈو میں رسم الخط کو Ctrl+V سے پیسٹ کر دیں۔ یوں آپ کا رسم الخط کمپیوٹر میں نصب ہو جائے گا۔
