This painting is "Uriel Acosta and Spinoza" by Samuel Hirszenberg (1888), of a meeting between the crypto-Jew turned rabbinic Jew turned heretic Uriel Da Costa (or Acosta, spelling wasn't consistent at the time) and a young Baruch Spinoza that almost certainly never happened (but it was plausible).

Anyway, my thoughts when I first saw this painting was something like "LOL, why is Spinoza white?" but then various analysis of this painting point out the contrast between Spinoza and Da Costa and how colour theory plays into it:

In conclusion, Samuel Hirszenberg should have designed children's hospitals.
