Just saying but random/scheduled drug tests mandated by government programs esp probation are so counterproductive. Almost every single person I know who’s been on probation has opted for a different substance to soothe their anxiety but avoid the long-lasting traces of thc. This means more young people drinking, snorting shit or popping pills because they’re in a place in life where they can’t stop using everything at once all on their own (many are having to be forced into withdrawal in a cell) and aren’t receiving support and most are also in a situation where if they smoke, they’re going back to jail. This isn’t to say that this is a universal experience and every single person chooses to do different substances with a shorter half life, some can and do quit. And that’s great! If it’s worked for you, awesome! I just don’t think it’s working for a majority of young people. An addict needs to be able to stop using because they see the effects it has on their life and those around them, because they genuinely want to stop, not because of the fear of what would happen if they didn’t and unfortunately that is rarely the case. Reform now.
