I know enemies treated each other with hate and anger, but am I the only one who likes enemies-to-lovers ships not because of the manipulation, codependency, or the "toxic" aspects of the ship, but because of the idea of the villains redeeming and the angst and hurt/comfort potential?

The concept of Barry realizing Eobard not only orchestrated and let terrible things happen to him but that Eobard also prevented terrible things from happening to him (i.e., anything that would have killed Barry before he could be struck by lightning, and, for example, killing Simon Stagg to keep him away from The Flash). Then, the concept of Barry being kidnapped after Eobard's defeat at the end of season one, being tortured or mutilated or almost dying and he thinks, near delirious, "Eobard wouldn't let this happen to me."
