I used to think your URL was funny. But then I got diagnosed with cancer and realized how harmful it is. By saying, “hey, at least it’s not cancer,” you’re sending a message that cancer is the worst possible outcome. I want you to know that cancer is not the worst and you should not be comparing illnesses like this. I appreciate your posts and your presence in Tumblr’s chronic illness community, but please change your URL to something less harmful.
So that's the whole point of my url. What you said. That cancer is not the end all be all. And people who say that to chronically ill people are ableist. And that making a hierarchy of illness is harmful. That's the point. I'm sorry you thought it meant something else because that's not the intention. What you thought is actually the harmful attitude I want people to realize is a problem. So I'm glad you realized it was but so sorry it took cancer to do so.
So no, I won't change my url.
