Most romantic thing someone has done for you?

“I honestly couldn’t say. Lila took me to see an art gallery. She was patient and explained each painting. It was nice to get an insight into someone else’s mind. It was… intimate. Not… Fuck. She showed me another side of her that I didn’t know about. That’s what I mean from intimate. It was romantic to me. Just to hold hands and talk about our passions.”

What did you want to be as a child? Did you achieve that goal? If not, why?

“A chef pretty much always. Maybe when I was wee I wanted to be a firefighter or something. But once I got in the kitchen, it was all I wanted. I wanted to be the best I could be. Yeah, I guess. I cooked at the best places. I was on a few TV programs. But reaching a goal isn’t always all it’s cracked up to be.”

Do you think nostalgia can kill you?

“Only if you’re so lost in thought you step out into traffic. Generally, no. Nostalgia isn’t bad. It’s nice to remember the past and where you come from. But I don’t like to live there. Maybe that can be dangerous.”

Last time you felt like a little kid? Carefree and wanderlust?

“My second date with Fallon. I haven’t felt nervous in a really long time. It’s nice to feel a connection. It’s different. I usually close myself off because of work and I generally don’t open up to many people. But I wanted to try something new. And I’m fucking glad I did. It’s been a rough go for the two of us, but something keeps bringing us together. It makes me feel light when I talk to her. I wouldn’t… sometimes you just know when you connect with someone. The sweaty palms gave it away for me.”
