I haven't updated this blog in forever. Oi, my bad!
So far I've attended two months of UTA for my unit (I as excused from June). This last UTA, July was incredibly challenging. Because I'm still a Trainee, I haven't attended bootcamp, I'm enrolled in my units Training and Development Program, and it sucks (rewarding! but still sucks). About 1/2 of our day is comprised of drilling, marching and PT. The other half are briefings, activities (for example: how to roll a shirt) and BMT practice.
July UTA we had a TI "help us" through the weekend. Normally it's just our facilitators (SSgt and MSgt). He made it especially fun. I escaped being yelled at but only because I've had a good amount of practice previously keeping my bearing, etc. He certainly did rip into a couple of individuals in the program though. It's for sure a mistake to underestimate the TIs, don't do it!
This time attending my UTAs is counting towards my career as a whole, so that's reassuring. I get my E-3 4 muta pay every weekend and they put me up in very nice hotels, so that's also nice.
I'm upping my workout routine like crazy. The TI this month put us through a 3rd week BMT PT card (basically the daily workout routine for strength training) and it was HARD. I suppose it didn't help we had to do pyramid pushups afterwards and the MALES caused us to get stuck on a set for 6 completions. The TI was mad because the girls were doing better, lol.
They're saying now I won't leave for BMT until January. Knowing how many skills I'll be developing before then, and with my luck... They'll probably put me in a dorm chief/student leader position. Perhaps it won't be a bad thing. I'm already dreading having to deal with a bunch of 17/18 year olds. Oh goodness.
Still kind of kicking myself about not trying harder to get a commission opportunity, but I got an IN, in the field I want to be in. But, the papers are signed, no going back now!
