Akabeko is a legendary cow from Aizu, and nowadays are famous auspicious bobbing head toys:
To celebrate coming year of the Metal Ox, Inori has created this super cute Akabeko using one red apple: eyes are cut using straws, body is assemble with toothpicks, and sesame seeds are used for the nostrils. My favourite part is how the stalk becomes the akabeko’s tail, so cute!
This reminds a lot of usagi ringo (apple bunny), a cute way used by parents to make their kids eat apples:
made a small army of usagi ringo (rabbit apple slices!)
I only applied a clear glaze to the "apple skin" part, so there's extra contrast between the matte body and glossy skin
