He introduced me to the joy of the minor pentatonic scale, and thus impacted the composition of many of my songs that were composed and released after November of 2009. He was directly involved in composing the tune for "A Moment In Your Love" - the first song on my 2015 album Water, penned by Imam Zaid Shakir. I'll be sharing some video and audio recordings in further posts insha'Allah - qasida recordings in his office at Ta'leef, a mawlid at the old zawiya in March 2009, and some hilarious moments that will help us remember his generous smile and infectious laughter.
