Alright, but I am kinda enjoying how everything is a goddamn mess and no one has any idea of how to manage their new positions.
Rachel didn’t know how to step up and make herself heard by that associate;
Donna couldn’t wait to use her new superpowers and jumped at the first occasion to do it, for many reasons (Rachel is her friend and she was being belittled; it felt like the associate was undermining Donna’s authority too, also because the ‘I know more stuff than you do’ totally applies to Donna too, and in fact that’s when she stepped in; she wants to show that she’s an actual partner; etc.), even if she humiliated Rachel in the process. I’m glad they talked it out, thanks Harvey for being an asshole and helping people realize things;
Harvey. Lol, Harvey. Where do I even begin? He has way too much on his plate and he’s struggling to manage it. At first he was too hesitant, then he rushed too much into everything, now he’s acting like some kind of dictator... I mean, he can and has to run the firm, his word is worth more than Louis’ and Donna’s, because he’s the managing partner. But to be a leader you have to listen to the other partners too, or things are not going to work (not necessarly do as they say, but listen and be open to the idea what you might be wrong at times). I also feel like Louis was onto something when he said that Harvey is afraid of standing up to Alex.
Louis being a mess has nothing to do with him being in a new position, but he’s still a mess. He’s trying, poor thing, it hurt to see him trying to be mature and talk to Harvey only to crash against a wall of assholery, because Harvey feels like he’s losing control, so what’s the solution? Remind everyone that you are the authority, step on them if they protest, regain control on what you can.
Mike’s problems originate mainly from the fact that he’s pressured to prioritize what Harvey thinks he should prioritize (which isn’t even wrong, considering that he does work for Harvey), even if it crashes with his moral code. His scene with Alex though gives me a little hope that he understands that’s how business works, even if he (or Alex, or Harvey) may not always be happy about it.
