The WS6 was the last hoorah of the Firebird legacy, with the mighty 5.7liter LS1 engine paired with the 6 speed T56 transmission. This transmission was shared in several other USDM performance vehicles like the Firebird's sister Camaro, Corvette, and the Dodge Viper and a few Aston Martin vehicles.

The WS6 is most known for its sleek looks, much similar to the pointy C5 Corvette, and unlike the blocky Camaro. The ram air hood scoops give the WS6 its sharing design point with other Pontiacs- a split front grille that houses the arrowhead Pontiac emblem.

The WS6 was only offered in 2001, and the Firebird name was slashed in 2002, as the rest of Pontiac was slowly gutted.
