(Hence the pattern name, Yorktowne) A deep blue, hand-applied floral motif adds dimension to the smooth glaze that is reminiscent of early salt-glaze techniques. Early pieces have a trademark bottom-stamp reminiscent of a Castle. Most of these pieces have the hand-applied motif which reflects color-shade differences in the blue motif design. The initial hand-applied motif for day generally have a darker motif on it but as the production line continued that day the motif became lighter on the same piece. Personal collection of 45 years.
