#useless co-workers

I am so god damned tired from work.

I'm the shift manager today. Our work is inherently messy, it's usually not a problem but holy shit, this group of younger people we have in today (all friends) are all so fucking useless in a way that other young people working here are absolutely not. It's causing issues.

They need to be told to clean down the area regularly. Like, reminded constantly. Will not begin cleaning until directed and won't do a great job of it either. The bulk, sure, but 0 attention to detail.

It's the second last day before we close and I had to explain over and over that we had to clean to a really high standard tonight so tomorrow's team is not left having to deep clean the entire building during a normal shift. I gave very specific directions and assigned tasks, and ended up not finishing my own cleaning tasks because I had to micro manage them.

And the kicker, locking up at the end of the night. "Can I go yet can i go yet it's 600" bitch FINISH YOUR FUCKING TASK FIRST don't be rude and leave it up to the last shift. We wouldn't be running over (by a whole 5 min) if you'd just cleaned to a decent standard throughout the day to begin with!!

So glad I don't have to go back for 2 weeks. Not looking forward to being shift manager for them again.

LOGISTICS of scheduling meetings with more than 2 people is painful, but when you have to ask others for a favor it is even worse.  I just scheduled a bi-weekly meeting with 10+ people and the conference room I picked is booked for 2 months from now.  So, I check to see who has it booked and realize it's a "placeholder" and nobody has been invited to it yet.  I reach out to the person who set the meeting up asking him for a favor to move his time or location and he response back with a curt, I need it that day.  Which, generally I'd just be gracious and try to fix things on my side...but today I am not feeling gracious.  I'm going to try to use reason:  The date is in 8 weeks; He has not invited anyone to the meeting yet; He could find an alternate location.  But honestly, I have to be realistic, if he didn't get it the first time he probably won't get it now.  For full disclosure here is our conversation:

ME: I just booked a recurring meeting for a bi-weekly cross-functional Finance/Product/CIO discussion and my conference room did not accept because it looks like the room is on “hold” in August.  Do you need it for the specific time slot you chose?  If not, could you re-book your holding meeting so I can have the room during that time for my group meeting.  Thanks!!

ME:Understand, but since I have a bi-weekly recurring meeting with 12 people that will be starting on 7/10 and you don’t appear to have any invitees to your meeting yet I was hoping you could find another location or time slot instead of me having to move my meeting for 1 week 2 months from now.
