Hello! Hope you're having a wonderful day 💖💖💖 I had a little thought and I hope it's okay to ask about. So remember in the earlier chapters when bakugo beat the absolutely snot out of izuku before they started going to UA? So like what do you think would have gone down if Aizawa had found him while he was healing in his noodly form (I hope this isn't an odd question feel free to ignore it if you want ily 💖)
Aizawa never claimed to know exactly how things work out in different situations. The act of claiming such surety when in hero work was a fool-proof way to get set up for disaster. So, to say he knew how things would play out now that he had a name, face, and even school to attach to the only solid lead in his… search... for the creature was not correct. And, apparently, things would go so wildly different from what he could have ever expected that he actually ends up at a sort of loss.
He was crouched on the top of a building that was under construction when he heard it. A faint choked wheeze. Almost like someone trying to hold back a cough. He looked around to see nothing nearby and stopped, leaning over the edge of the rooftop a little further and tilting his head a little. Nothing. A moment. The breeze died down til it was almost uncomfortably quiet for a city block.
The sound came again. Below. He looked and saw a tarp covered window frame about a meter down. Seeing as he had no idea what he may be dropping in on, most likely someone homeless trying to stay out of the breeze, Aizawa looked for a place to anchor himself so as to rappel down the side of the building. He settled next to the window, just out of the frame’s view and making sure his shadow didn’t get cast onto it.
Whoever was inside seemed to lose their battle with their cough. It was harsh and followed by a retching sound and the clear sound of a splatter. They were sick. That or they took too much of something and regardless Aizawa felt the need to help.
He stepped to the side and let his foot settle in the sill as he ducked in, pushing the tarp aside and freezing immediately.
The thing was laid out on its side. Fur was missing in large swathes and he could see, even from this far, even with how dark it was, both how tense it was and how much of its skin had been horribly burnt. He was careful with how he circled it at a wide berth, rounding its tail and stopping when he saw the yellow bag, also heavily damaged, sitting a bit away. It was the same one that the kid at the exams had walked off of campus wearing. He glanced over and saw the way one of the antennae was lifting shakily in his direction, as if just moving that much was a laborious task. Aizawa circled further and saw the eyes tacking him slowly. Vomit was pooled not far from its… from a presumably his head. Tears glimmered down his muzzle and he let out a whine as he closed his many eyes, the pupils having gone slightly unfocused the longer they had held eye contact.
Aizawa was… not even remotely aware of how to approach this. Sure, he had imagined different ways he could have run unto the creature previously but none of those scenarios had involved him being so heavily injured.
“I’m going to help if I can. Alright?” Aizawa looked at where the skin was peeled and heard a soft whine drift from the creature. A glance towards his face again showed all the eyes suddenly very focused on him. The different pupils showed an odd mix of slit and blown, taking in more or less light depending on how far out of the outside light they were.
“I need more light than is in here. I have a phone and am going to use the light. I won’t touch you without asking or letting you know.”
There was no response. He remembered the creature talking but he wasn't sure if that was just a special thing it had to work up to or if this was actually a far more extensive injury than he could see at current. He slowly walked towards the massive form, thin and incredibly bony sides rising and falling shakily. He pulled out his phone and turned on the flashlight and reflexively clenched his jaw at what he saw.
The burns were much larger than he had initially thought and undoubtedly much deeper. The way the edges were torn and bleeding, actively, was probably just a massive welcome sign to infection. Even with the visual once over he gave it he knew he was absolutely not qualified to handle burns to this degree alone. He held in a sigh and stepped back again, turning off his light.
“I’m going to have to call someone t-”
“No!” The creature lifted his head quickly only for it to choke and throw up on the floor. It was all bile, not a speck of food or anything in it. That was not so alarming to Aizawa as the realization that even the other patches of vomit were exactly the same. It looked like the creature hadn’t eaten at all for a while.
He sucked in a frustrated breath before slowly letting it out. He walked towards the head of the creature, stepping carefully around the puddles of bile and saw how his head shook slightly before he gave up and set it back on the ground. A beat. He dropped into a practiced crouch.
“You are the kid, aren’t you. From the exam that took out the zero pointer?” Aizawa watched panic flash across the many eyes before cautious walls were visibly being built right in front of him. “So this isn’t a Quirk. I used Erasure on you when we first met and you stayed like this. That or your human form is the Quirk.”
Eleven eyes and not an answer to find in them.
“I am honestly just wanting to get your burns treated. Do you have anyone I can call that would make you feel better about that?” He wasn’t expecting a response. Afterall, he came to hide in an empty building instead of going to someone who could help. Unless he just couldn’t move, in which case Aizawa has even more obstacles to work around here.
The eyes drifted slightly to a middle distance before refocusing directly on Aizawa’s phone that hung lazily in his hand.
“All Might.” He warbled the words with a casualness that had Aizawa lifting an eyebrow in disbelief.
“Kid, All Might doesn’t just come to every injury or incident that ther-” Aizawa started to explain before he got cut off with a huff turned cough.
“Call. All Might.” The warble was pointed and Aizawa sighed and picked up his phone and scrolled through his contacts.
“I only have the number for his secretary.” He looked up at him, thinking this would be a sort of deterrent.
“Call Yagi-san.” The creature corrected and promptly closed his eyes.
Aizawa was genuinely taken aback at the knowledge of All Might’s secretary’s name. It wasn’t exactly common knowledge. That was probably what allowed him the curiosity that made him hit call. He held the phone up to his ear and watched the antennae press forward carefully. It rang three times before he heard the near anxious voice of the thin man.
“E-Eraserhead! What can I do for you at this time of night?”
Aizawa didn’t even get to answer as the creature let out an almost pitifully loud warble. The tonal shift was immediate and Aizawa wasn’t sure if that made him more or less confused and, admittedly, he was beginning to feel some nervousness.
“Where are you?” There was a severity in Yagi’s voice, an urgency, that Aizawa hadn’t been aware the secretary could even muster from the few times they had met.
“In an apartment complex that’s being built. I found-” Aizawa watched how the tension was slowly seeping out of the creature.
“I know who you found. Send me your location. I will be there shortly.” The phone hung up before he could even reply.
The only thought he had as he lowered the phone slowly, almost absently sending a pin of his location to the secretary, was that he absolutely had not gotten enough sleep for this. There wasn’t nearly enough energy in his brain right now to process the incredibly large amount of information he was getting from such a brief interaction.
lit lit lit that was fun thank you sm anon im ♡
