I love this so much - actor @evanrachelwood wearing a suit to a red-carpet event! I personally am not comfortable in dresses, and it is refreshing to have a woman in a very public spotlight tell other girls and women it's okay to wear pants at a dressy or important event! I also thank Hilary Clinton for that with her #pantsuits. . When my book SCARS was the Govenor General finalist in Canada and I was considering attending the award ceremony, I felt panicked because I don't feel I can be myself in a dress (and I don't feel safe in them) but because the ceremony required formal attire, I wasn't sure if they would allow me to attend in a tux. And really, that's not me, either, but in my mind it seemed the only possibility. I love colour and beauty and the freedom to run if I have to (yes, the rape and torture I endured every day/night of my life for years still effects me), so I'd rather attend in a colourful, dressy pair of slacks and a flowing, colourful top, with my #book necklace and book jewelry. . .
