This month ten years ago Neon Bible was released to the world! 2007 was the year I discovered several of my favorite bands, but this album right here introduced me to the genius of Arcade Fire. I remember listening to "My Body Is a Cage" for the first time on my old desktop; I still get chills when the drums hit at the end. I still butcher the French parts of "Bad Waves/Bad Vibrations" but you bet your ass I will sing it with as much gusto as Regine had recording it. I know it's cliched to say that an album changed your life, but Neon Bible fucking changed my life. It came at a moment in time when I needed an emotional outlet. The bloody honest lyrics and cry of the church organ can never be repeated, nor would I wish them to be. Neon Bible is one of a kind. This album and The Suburbs are the markers of my teenage identity whilst Reflektor and future music continue to shape my adult life.
