"...You were right, you know? Humans are pretty terrible, and I... I knew that from the start."
Rune doesn't really know what to think of Usoko/Asuka.
(Honestly, he'd probably continue calling her Usoko just out of habit unless she insisted otherwise. If they ever talked again.)
On one hand, at the very beginning, she intervened on that argument between Rune and Hikaru and probably stopped Hikaru from punching him. Let's be real here that gave her a lot of brownie points. (Semi-big sister status for a little while?? maybe.) On the other hand, she killed Riko and had that speech before she died, and Rune isn't really even bothered about her being a murderer because he never knew Riko, but those things she said kind of.
Resonated with him because literally so many people had treated him terribly in the past that he understood what she was saying, but he denied it. He denied the fact that he agreed for so long until Wakana died, when he realized that it didn't matter what he thought. The people he cared about were mostly dead around him, and he disliked many of the people who were still living.
So finally he admitted it to himself. He agreed. Humans were (mostly) terrible creatures. He knows that isn't a good mindset to have, but he figures that accepting it is probably healthier than constantly denying the existence of that bitter and cynical part of him.
