USS Armstrong (NCC-317856) by Jetfreak-7
Name: U.S.S. Armstrong
Registry: NCC-18212
Type: Oberth-class Starship
Affiliation: Starfleet
Captain: Johnson
Year: 2269
Background: Federation science vessel, on loan to renowned xenoarchaeologist Dr. Joshiah Wembley. One of the first Starfleet vessels to explore the Gamma Quadrant. Dr. Wembley died of a stroke shortly after their passage through the wormhole and Captain Johnson, using Wembley’s notes, was able to locate an artifact that had been the doctor’s life’s work. Johhson officially kept Wembley “alive” so that the doctor would get the credit. Their return to DS9 coincided with the accidental release of a fast-spreading fungus on the station. Commander Sisko wanted to rule out the artifact Captain Johnson had brought back but the Captain was unwilling to submit it to an intense scan fearing it could damage it. The situation further deteriorated when the Cardassians arrived. Although Starfleet placed Armstrong at Sisko’s disposal there wasn’t much the small science vessel could do. Sisko eventually got tired of Johnson’s stalling and sent Jadzia Dax and Odo covertly aboard to discover the truth. But the artifact was harmless and not the cause of the rapid growth of the fungus on the station.
