Really glad some places over here are finally starting to do that. Where I used to live they actually banned plastic bags and you had to either buy a paper one or have a reusable one.
I wish we did that too.
But also it’s not enough. Everything comes to our shop already wrapped in plastic unnecessary, which we then have to take off before it goes out on display. So if someone is buying three items (a pen, a keyring, and a soft toy) but then declines a plastic bag, that’s still already three uses of plastic beyond their control. It puts emphasis on the individual, when really its an industrial problem.
On the flip side, we also have a lot of East Asian customers who make a point of requesting “new” items (i.e the ones still wrapped in plastic) and not the ones we have on display (which had been wrapped in plastic a few hours prior). It really pisses us all off.

I also don’t understand how you mistake an Irish accent with a British English one. And I know that Britain has a ton of regional accents but...none of them sound Irish and the supervisor has a strong Dublin accent.
