feudalism is so last century || usuiradar | aoleaf ||
Seragaki Aoba was not a particularly impressive man, especially when one took into consideration the rest of his family: he was simple innkeeper for weary travelers and visiting foreigners, while he had a twin brother who was abroad, studying in Europe, and an older brother who was a court artisan for the local nobles. Their parents had been well known for their connections with the Western world due to their many journeys through Europe and Asia, and their advice had been quite valued by the local nobles, prior to their untimely deaths.
Yes, unlike the rest of the Seragaki clan, Aoba was nothing special. He hadn't continued his education like his twin had, nor could he speak English to the degree of fluency that Sei could: he was, quite frankly, just like every other commoner who lived in Edo--no, it was Tokyo now. Which was why, for the life of him, he couldn't understand why this foreigner was forever sticking around and staying in his homely inn!
Frowning rather angrily at the gaijin, he could feel a frustration bubbling up inside of him: no matter how much he wanted to scold the German for his behaviour, he knew that the rich (how else would a gaijin be able to come all the way from Germany to Japan?) man wouldn't understand a word of Japanese. He only spoke in German, after all, and rarely English whenever he met Sei.
With a rather impressive twitch in his right upper cheek, Aoba sent the gaijin a nasty glare. "I do not appreciate being manhandled, no matter the situation!" He hissed in rapid-fire Japanese, deciding that he didn't care that the man couldn't understand him, he just wanted to yell at him. "I don't know what you were thinking when you grabbed me just now, but I... will not... put up with this!"
He didn't care that the man generated quite a bit of income for him, and that he was probably one of the reasons why the Japanese economy was improving so much thanks to Western investments: he didn't want to have to put up with all of the inconveniences that the German gave him. Not to mention, he couldn't understand why in the heavens above this man would come to a foreign land without knowing the language!
Letting out a rather frustration growl, he spun on his heel to stomp out of the sitting room, wanting to retreat back into his private quarters--which the German couldn't enter no matter how much he protested.

but it’s just kissing. …unless it wasn’t just kissing and you’re being a prude about explaining.
It was just kissing as well as having an actual talk about something private so. Of course being interrupted is embarrassing.
