📁 How to install UtauV on MacOS
Recently a fork for OpenUtau was released with expanded abilities, with UtauV, it is possible to blend voice colors with XSY, generate harmonies, train your own Auto Pitch, and much more. In this tutorial, I will just be going over the basic install, there will be no information on the additional features.
Installation . . .
To install the MacOS version of UtauV, we will have to navigate to the Github page.
UtauV ▶︎ https://github.com/emeraldsingers/UtauV/releases
Depending on which processors your Mac uses, you will download either the Intel or Silicon packages.
(To determine with processors your Mac uses, please refer to the Apple icon in the top left of your toolbar. From here, navigate to "About this Mac," you will see either Intel, or M chip (Silicon.)
After downloading the appropriate package, the install is simple. If you have installed OpenUtau before, the process will be similar. Before dropping UtauV into your applications folder, the application will be named "OpenUtau," I do recommend renaming (UtauV) it so that it doesn't over-write the original OpenUtau program.
After running the .dmg file, you will be prompted to delete the file as it is "unsafe," this is a result of MacOS quarantine and to override, head over to Preferences > Security and Privacy > and scroll down to the Security panel. From here, you can continue the install.
After trying to open the program for a second time, you will encounter an error where the prompt claims, "OpenUtau" is damaged and can’t be opened. You should eject the disk image."
We will not be doing that, so select cancel. Now we will navigate to terminal. Terminal can be accessed from Finder under Applications > Utilities > Terminal.
Inside Terminal, assuming that UtauV is inside your applications folder, we will run the following command
xattr -rc /Applications/UtauV.app
*(Application name must reflect in the file path)
After running this command, you may run UtauV again, the loading screen should appear. After the application is running, I do recommend going through Preferences inside UtauV to set all your file paths again. You will need to set your Wine path (if you have previously installed resamplers), your singer path / additional singer path, and your themes.
