Heart Monitor
Slowly the clinical room was only filled with the soft sounds of calmed breathing and the rhythmic beeping of machines; working fingers still slowly carding through thick dark brown hair, almost dancing with the curls in an attempt to tame them. Knowing he'd have to let go as soon as the drugs released their suffocating shroud around his mind, Jongdae paused playing with Jongin's hair and weakly poked at the IV dispenser to up his dosage. Within moments the drips rained down, numbing his brain and letting half-formed thoughts float through the fog.
Only one repeated itself as his gaze flowed across Jongin's peaceful face, shit Jongdae you have it bad. The cocktails of morphine, vicodin, and probably some rare breed of horse's piss, couldn't dull the flutter or his heart as his fingertip barely traced his friend's cheek; monitor skipping a beat. A soft sigh passed through chapped lips as his touch graced over the subtle imperfections, small nicks and scratches from stupid dares, scattered pockets of slightly lighter skin as the war wounds of puberty, the long thin surgical scar normally hidden by his hairline. Hopefully we'll match one day.
Eyelids growing heavy, medically induced liquid lead flooding his veins, Jongdae's head groggily turned and the intern nurse flashed a soft smile. Her eyes flicked to Jongin, making a swell of possession rise in his chest, monitor picking pace. "Boyfriend?" He could only breathe out a barely there laugh and twitch his head to the side as sleep crawled into his mind. "No." I wish.
