Phase 90 on Fuzzdog board. Wanted to build one of these for ages and despite having made a couple of other more complex phasers (Lovetone Doppelgänger) I’ve found myself wanting something simpler. It’s such a classic phaser sound and nice and minimal so just what I was after and takes up less space on my board!

Decided to give Tayda’s UV enclosure printing service a go and I am really impressed with the results I have to say! For the price and how quickly they turn it around plus no minimum order it’s really pretty amazing! The artwork required a bit more effort when compared to etching but it was totally worth it IMO!

I’d love to become a proper european manufacturer for artists in the near future, but there is one code I haven’t cracked yet, and that’s keychains. Since they come in contact with keys, we need to protect the print so it doesn’t shave off. Most people sandwich them with another piece of acrylic, others use resin. I feel like I’m really close to finding the way to do this best.

This Is Why 3D Wall Prints Look So Real

A lot of people see a 3D wall printer for the first time and assume the effect is just a visual trick.

Sometimes it is.

But sometimes the wall actually has texture.

That is the part many people do not expect.

It is not only about the artwork

Good perspective, shadows, and lighting already make a wall feel deeper. A flat image can still create a strong 3D illusion if the design is done well.

But modern 3D wall printer systems can go further than that.

They can build up real texture directly on the surface by layering UV ink multiple times in the same area.

That is how certain logos, patterns, and decorative details end up looking slightly raised instead of completely flat.

The texture comes from layered ink

The process is actually pretty interesting.

A 3D wall printer prints one layer of UV ink, then quickly cures it with UV light before printing the next layer. Because the ink hardens almost immediately, the layers stay separated instead of blending together.

So the texture slowly builds upward.

Most projects do not need huge thickness. In fact, many setups usually stack no more than about five layers. That is already enough to create visible depth and a subtle embossed feel.

People sometimes call this a “2.5D effect” because it sits somewhere between a flat print and a real physical object.

Precision matters a lot

The textured effect only works if the layers line up correctly.

That is why a 3D wall printer relies heavily on precise printhead movement and stable ink placement. Even small shifts can make the texture look messy or uneven.

And then there is the wall itself.

Real walls are rarely perfectly flat. Some have slight texture. Some have waves or uneven areas. During printing, the system needs to maintain a stable gap between the printhead and the surface.

That is where automatic sensors come in.

Many modern 3D wall printer setups use built-in sensing systems that help adjust printhead height while printing. This helps avoid collisions and keeps the layered texture more consistent across the wall.

Why people like the effect so much

The result feels different from normal wall graphics.

A textured logo catches light differently. Raised patterns feel more premium. Even small embossed details can make a café, store, or branded space feel more custom and immersive.

That is probably why textured wall printing keeps showing up in more interior projects lately.

It turns walls into something people actually notice.
