I feel like crap, so playing with resin. Attempt one at the fluid die. It wasn’t sealed well, so it leaked while stuffing it into the die mold. We’ll see what happens with a smaller sphere. And a different color powder. I made a trial due yesterday. Ignore the bubbles and voids, it’s UV resin. I just wanted to see what a sphere coated with multichrome powder would look like. It’s almost as epic as the holo sphere center I did a while ago. I know, part of it is the really bad pour. But I see real potential there. And it would help if the sphere was black or dark colored under the powder, you can see through it if you hold it just right. Plus, part of the bad pour is bad curing. This bottle of uv resin is not curing right. September 14, 2020: Using a Tiny Pottery Wheel to Sand Dice Well... This is a thing. I think I should have taken a closer look at the raised surface on that "1" side. It may have needed sanding from the surrounding faces, not on that face itself. That's what happened with the first set of molds I got. The ones with the really shallow numbers. We'll see. The "1" here is gone. Never to return. Good for a test run, though. With UV resin. But look how shiny it is! It really did polish up very nicely. I think that this cheap, little, pottery wheel is going to work very well. I just have to remember that I don't need a lot of pressure. It could sand down too quickly, and too much pressure stops the wheel completely. Honestly, I don't understand how it's supposed to work as a pottery wheel when the motor is so weak. But still, it'll work for my purposes! I was unhappy that I had to shine every single side on the die. They were not smooth and shiny straight out of the molds. Another reason to make my own, then I have only myself to blame! Though, I probably did something to make it not smooth when messing with filling it. I do know there are *a lot* of bubbles in there. The other thing I have to work out is how to keep it from flinging water and wet resin dust everywhere. Seriously, how does this not fling clay all over the place when used as an actual pottery wheel? The robe I was wearing when I did this had a line water across the front! XD I guess we'll see. I can't get the wheel off again. When it shipped it had a teeny tiny wheel on it. And I took it off and put this, slightly bigger, one on. But it's stuck now, and won't budge. Which, I guess, is good because it won't slip while spinning. My bf suggested maybe a small pie tin might work. We'll see, they are cheap! February 7, 2020: Holo Glitter D20 I like how this came out, but it's not quite what I wanted. I think the holo glitter is too fine. You can't really see the sparkle. I'm going to try to find a slightly chunkier glitter. Nothing too chunky, because then it'll sink. But slightly bigger than this. Not that this was bad, It's quite lovely. Just not what I was aiming for. And I've been meaning to get around to doing this for a couple weeks. I've had this glitter in my nail art stash for at least a year. Probably more. :) I even inked this one. And I will definitely not use that paint again! Too matte. This was done with UV resin.
