I feel like crap, so playing with resin. Attempt one at the fluid die. It wasn’t sealed well, so it leaked while stuffing it into the die mold. We’ll see what happens with a smaller sphere. And a different color powder. November 12, 2020: White Flow D20 Here is a start-to-finish video on how I make my D20 Flowing Center Dice. I really like how this came out. I was a little upset over the bubbles and voids. And there are still some bubbles in the die, but they are ok. These are, after all, handmade and unique. Handmade means imperfect. :) If you want perfect, go buy mass produced ones! XD And I painted two of them so you can really see how the colors of the numbers affect the overall color of the die. The outer shell at least. I thought about doing a white layer then a colored layer. The numbers on these are certainly deep enough to try it. October 30, 2020: DIY White Flow D20 I'm liking how this came out. It's too soft to sand and polish straight out of the mold. I don't know if I'll do a video on that or not. I don't know if it's really needed (the video I mean, of course the die needs to be polished on the "1" side). I think it looks pretty great as is right now. But we'll see! I really like the Dr Crafty resin when it isn't in something really big. It isn't as clear as I was hoping, but you can't tell that with the small amount that covers the glass sphere. And I love that the glass sphere fits so well in this die! I can't wait to use all of them for so many different things! I just got a huge bag of them from Amazon! So there will be flow dice, and shaker dice, and I'll coat the sphere in holo glitter or chrome powder so it looks cool inside the die! (i did a holo glitter one once, a while ago, and I loved it, but I only had a few sphere to test with). There's just so much you can do. I hope that the spheres fit in the new molds I get next year from that Kickstarter I backed. I can't wait to see those molds! :) At some point I'll have to see if alcohol will bleach the mica powders. I know too bright UV light will. Obviously, it doesn't matter when white is used, but what happens to black or other colors? October 24, 2020: Making Dice Cap Molds I really like this style of mold. Cap molds with a reservoir. It works really well, when it works. The first ones I made used a much softer silicone. Much much softer. But I thought it was going to be too soft. So I got a harder silicone this time. Way too hard for my poor fingers. And my bf had a hard time, too! So next time I'll go for something in between the two. We'll see, I guess. I'm also looking at buying some molds. They are on Kickstarter as of writing this, and will be done soon. But don't you worry! I will post videos and photos of me using them! XD So, I'm going to try resin in the plain D20, because that's the most important right now. UV first, because that's what I like.
