Happy Valentines Day
Woe. Uzukarimoto be upon ye
Hi I saw your tags about Uzukarimoto and your description of their dynamic and I am VERY INTERESTED so please drop as many headcanons as you want I am all ears (also please tag me or spam my DMs if you ever write a fic for it I would love that)
Hits you with my uzukarimoto propaganda beam
They are so interesting to me!! I've talked about their dynamic before in a post from like a year ago and I still think they're so perfectly made to be a trio and I'm so upset they don't interact more in canon :/
Both Kariya and Uzuki have such refreshing and unique dynamics with Sho. Kariya expresses open admiration for him, teases him, says he's excited for him to be part of the team again when he thinks he's going to rejoin the reapers at the end of neo. As soon as I saw the scene where he jokes about Sho not being the kind of person to give out free advice when he helps the wicked twisters, and then laughs when he defensively insists that he only did it for his own sake, like he knows there's more than pure self-interest there...something potent clicked in my brain. And Uzuki. Uzuki calls him an overgrown man baby. Her response in og twewy to him going awol and siccing taboo noise on the city is to say he "really frosts her cookies". Whatever that means. She fucking hates him and it's not even because of any moral conflict. He's just an asshole.
It's so different from his other relationships. He's an unreliable bodyguard/mentor to the wicked twisters in the best of times. Beat flat-out hates him. Coco and Hanekoma treat him more like a tool than anything. Neku is arguably the person he's on the most amicable terms with, somehow, but it's still nothing like it is with Kariya and Uzuki. He doesn't intimidate them. He doesn't have any sort of power or influence over them. He's just their weird, shitty coworker. He might not see them as equals because, well, he's Sho, but it's pretty clear that they do.
I absolutely love the idea of post-domestication, tentatively eeking towards redemption-arc Sho, being forced into a situation where he has to work with Kariya and Uzuki in order to realize his goals. I think their personalities would work fantastically together. Sho constantly bickering with Uzuki, yet begrudgingly respecting her for her strength in her convictions until it blooms into a genuine fondness?? Inspiring a sense of rebellion in her when the higher ups push too far?? Uzuki hating his guts at first, but then slowly warming to him as she starts to appreciate his determination to take matters into his own hands and say a big fuck-you to the rules when Shibuya's existence is at stake??? Chef's kiss. They are enemies to partners they act like they're divorced they're qpps they still kind of hate each other. They are everything to me.
Sho and Kariya are like my #1 fav twewy dynamic that I invented 90% of in my head. Admittedly I'm not as big on ShoKariya as I used to be because I've started working on a fic where they have a very different dynamic, but in terms of canon this is still Ideal. They're total opposites tied together by a shared love of Shibuya. Kariya's been walking the sidewalks for years, appreciating every little thing, while Sho's been staring at the sky thinking only of what the city could be. You know?? Kariya helping to pry Sho away from his self-destructive desire to become the Composer while Sho pulls him out of his long-held sense of apathy. They mediate each other's worst qualities. They're literally catboy and dogboy. I am forty pages into the OUTLINE of said fic and there is no end in sight. They literally interact twice.
