After her exile from Shinra, Vanna takes up freelance spy work for a client.
Pre-TURK Vanna Niles Headcanons!
- Vanna Niles was originally from Kalm and moved to Midgar at age 18. She lived in sector 7 in a studio apartment and worked as a weapon merchant at the shop in the daytime. While working there, she learned about marksmanship and materia usage. It’s useful even though she used her Bo Staff as her primary weapon.
- She doesn’t want to talk about this but she used to work as a night shift Honeybee for a short period of time, mostly doing greeting or serving drinks. She was fired two weeks after threatening a patron (an important figure) that she will take her Bo Staff and shove it up his ass if he won’t leave her alone.
- Vanna was a member of the neighborhood watch in the sector 7 slums. She worked graveyard shift three times a week. Not very popular, but she got got some nice rewards time to time.
- Vanna didn’t join the TURKS after one of them saw her fight one of the escape SHINRA monsters in the slums. They came into the weapon shop and gave her the invitation.
Quick backstory: Vanna joined the TURKS when they saw her fighting monsters in the slums in the middle of the night with her Bo Staff. She also used to work at the weapon merchant store around that time as well.
I would like to expand that part of Vanna's story a bit with a few changes.
Rare Headcanon:
Vanna can’t shake the fact that things look very off when she came back from Kalm with her family in the Summer of 1996 (The Kalm Incident). The bombing destroyed most of the town, including the Niles' home, family personal photos, and heirlooms. Luckily, her grandparents, aunts, and uncles have some photographs of Kalm before the incident.
Hidden Headcanon
Vanna's hidden skill is using a sniper rifle.
There's nothing more than what makes Vanna cringe is when someone told her she's a good person. Vanna doesn't think she's a good person because of her actions as a TURK, but at the same she wasn't an evil person. There are times she goes by Shinra's orders. Other times, she goes by her own agenda.
She prefers if people refer her as a morally grey person.
