Longarm’s personality (TFA): 

I want to talk a bit about Longarm and how he and Shockwave are still the same person, but why Longarm can be seen as a little socially awkward and fumbling at times. For one, like always, I don’t hc that Shockwave is entirely emotionless, especially in TFA. He shows SO MUCH personality in TFA, and he’s also a completely new take on Shockwave’s character. Still smart, still cold, still deadly, still devoted and utterly loyal to Megatron, but still a very unique take on Shockwave as a character (and I love him for that!). In TFA, he’s actually one of the most emotionally driven Shockwave’s around (he laughs, he becomes annoyed, he yells, he taunts his enemies [Ratchet], and he shows great consideration towards Megatron, hell, even as Longarm he shows nervousness when the Autobots are raising their brows at him). 

First of all, I will mention that Longarm is a persona, a fake identity and not a separate mech to Shockwave. Longarm will always be act of Shockwave’s, with the purpose to infiltrate the Autobots and learn all about them while feeding information back to Megatron personally. How far Shockwave can be influenced via your muses in RP however, is entirely up for plotting ;) 

So, Longarm as an act. For one, Shockwave is there because it’s his duty. Thanks to his shape and size altering abilities, he was a suitable candidate for the job of a spy. He was able to hide his true appearance, but on top of that, Shockwave is also a very intelligent mech (that’s not been abandoned in TFA as he’s still working on intricate memories and data from Arcee). However, thanks to Shockwave’s own lack of social charm, it DOES make Longarm appear a little awkward at times. 

While he’s certainly not the emotionless mech we generally see in the newer medias of TF, Shockwave is still the enemy, he’s still a ‘bad guy’ and thus he is still cold and calculating, and we get to see that when he confronts Ratchet about Ultra Magnus and Arcee. Shockwave holds no emotions towards their demise, he is cold and logical, and this is one of his most powerful scenes in my opinion. We see just how different Shockwave actually is to the kind, lighthearted and helpful Longarm we’ve been following before. It’s one of the best chilling Shockwave scenes up to date tbh, and a solid reminder that yes, he IS the enemy, and he’s played his part well.   

So how does Shockwave play the Autobots? For one, he’s professional, and he masks, he learns from his surroundings, and often times he turns to people pleasing to keep suspicions off him. That doesn’t mean he’s got any true emotions to his acts, it’s a mask. This can make Longarm seem aloof at times, and also a little wishwashy as he goes back and forth on how he may react and act around others, especially if he doesn’t know them well.

For Bumblebee and Bulkhead, Longarm is definitely more friendly, because it’s to his benefit (every act of Longarm is to benefit Shockwave’s position and in turn Megatron’s overall knowledge and position as well). Make no mistake, Longarm can be kind, helpful and playful in nature, but he is doing it for his own gain in the Autobot ranks (which is successful considering he ends up being a Prime and also the HEAD of Autobot Intelligence).  

His awkwardness is likely part of his charm, and definitely why no one would be looking at him as a spy. Of course, he does turn others against Wasp and uses manipulation to gain the upper hand, but Longarm doesn’t seem any bit cruel in nature. Like I said, he’s a people pleaser, and he greatly uses that to his advantage, because the more he pleases others, the more they will likely trust him and confide in him--and that benefits Shockwave in the long run. 

There will be times where Shockwave may slip up and isn’t careful enough. He was not born a spy, and it was not the kind of job he was used to when given the orders. His shape shifting was what got him there, not his ability to spy. But he’s learned along the way how to manipulate others, and Autobots do so disgust him, which at times makes him want to destroy them. But he will perform his duty, especially considering he is so very devoted to Megatron and the Decepticon cause. This is why Megatron trusts him, because even though living as an Autobot repulses Shockwave on so many levels, he will never break his cover or let them get the better of him.

She had gotten herself out of the trash compactor, and that much was commendable. But not without injury. He had seen her when he was en route to retrieve Ren, and he had ordered the shuttle pilot to stop. If pausing to retrieve the First Order’s best and brightest made it impossible to save Ren-- well, he had already weighed that choice in his head. 

By the time they had evacuated the planet killer, it was clear that both she and the knight would require medical attention. Hux had, as usual, escaped the worst of it. Only a twisted ankle, and some sore muscles from letting his compatriots lean on him. Annoying, but nothing worth mentioning. 

He came to see her while she was in med bay, surprised to find her in more critical condition than he had been expecting. But then, they were all running on adrenaline after Starkiller.

Starkiller. He’d been doing well not to think about it. To focus on what would come next, instead of what he could not change. But here, sitting at her bedside, it all suddenly hit him at once. No, he hadn’t lost everything. But had he lost enough? Would Snoke decide he was no longer useful? He reached out and took her hand, finding comfort in the warmth of it, in the regular beat of her pulse. He had so few friends, if he had lost her.. 

He leaned his forehead against the back of her hand, letting the warmth soothe his anxiety. He had no time to mourn for what might have been. He couldn’t fall apart, not now. They had so much to do, the First Order needed him. He pressed his lips to her knuckle, the skin to skin contact so utterly rare and alien to him. A gesture of care-- and of fealty. 

“Come back,” he breathed, against the skin. He couldn’t do this alone.

Lost Love -- @withpoe

He sat for a moment in the corner of the interrogation room, examining the prisoner before him from behind his mask. Bloodied and beaten, but Kylo knew well enough that there was still a fire in Poe’s brown eyes. Still, this wasn’t exactly how Kylo  would have liked the interrogation of the pilot to go. Hux always favored a route that was as much showy as it was dramatic. What should the general care about a few drops of blood being spilled by the enemy in the process? No time for him to sit down and talk to the prisoner. No. Just violence. The only problem that Hux didn’t expect, which Kylo had foreseen, was that Poe wouldn’t break. Now after all this time, it was the knight’s turn.

The young man stood up and moved over to Poe. Standing next to him, he reached with his pocket to pull out a dark cloth, which he pressed gently with gloved fingers to the left side of Poe’s head and he began to carefully wipe away the blood.

“You have a habit of causing more trouble than necessary.” He said. “Then again, why should I expect anything less from the infamous Poe Dameron?”

It took a long while, but Cybertron seemed to finally be back to normal. The way it was before the war. Or at least that;s what Quasar told herself when she came back fro her long “vacation” on Earth. 

She needed to leave to pursue her passion and now that she was back on her homeplanet, it was clear that some things had changed. For instance, she was getting a lot of strange looks as she walked down the streets with this big potted plant in her arms.

Quasar could barely see where she was going, the pot blocking her entire view of the street. But she was sure of where she was going. Or at least she thought she was. Without warning she felt herself trip over a crack in the street and fell forward. “Slagslagslag!” She scrambled before falling face first onto the ground, her plant on the ground in front of her.

She wasn’t aware of this, but somebody had just saw the whole thing.

Ahsoka looked down the list of names, before looking at the pilots standing before her. She knew of them, though she’d never personally met many of them. She called out their names one by one listening as they answered her in one form or another. One name made her pause, from a debrief, the whole reason she was even here, had come away from her well hidden and protected Jensaarai temple and decided to aid them once again. The name was familiar. 

“Poe Dameron?” she asked looking at the group though she had a pretty good idea of whom he was.

“Do you think so?” he asked, keeping Longarm’s accent just to make certain that he didn’t overdo it. Primus, it did feel amazing to be back in his normal form, though. He could stretch himself, and his back cracked in about a thousand different places. 

“I have been working on it for months since I found out about this Earth custom.”

It was like seeing Elita fall.

There had been a fire and a local villain du jour was making waves. They were working to contain it when the tectonic abilities rocked the street. Setting the already weak structure of the recently ablaze building tumbling. Longarm was was in its way.

The other mech had looked so...shocked for a moment to see the building shadow looming over his helm. Optimus had reacted without thought. His wings clipping out as he barreled full speed into the other. Arms around his waist. Optimus had yelped in pain, half flinging Longarm. One leg trapped under the debris.

Now he was forced to keep his weight off thar limb to let the new strut heal right. Leaving him partially helpless.

Which brings him here. Having to trust Longarm and Vice versa.

"... Of you're sure about volunteering to be my aid." Optimus was hesitant. He still felt brief moments of panic ik recharge. Where Longarm , for one reason or another, was offline by the weight of the building coming down on him.

The event had been... unexpected. If Optimus knew who he really was, he doubted he would have tossed himself in harms way, but nonetheless, Shockwave was impressed--and Longarm was safe. Pushed out of the way by the other mech with barely a scratch on his coat. 

He’d had a few hours to think about what had happened, and Shockwave had put hands to face as he watched Ratchet repair the warframe. Because that’s what Optimus was... He was a special kind of mech, wasted potential down here on Earth when he could have easily been aiding Megatron vs fighting against him. Such a pity. And yet, what if he could twist that to his own needs? The ruby optic watched Optimus on the berth, though blue was what everyone else focused on when they saw his face. Shockwave, too, was a special kind of mech, after all. 

“Of course,” he replied, his voice soft as he went to put a hand on Optimus’ arm. “You saved my life back there, Optimus. I could have been crushed to death.” His optics closed as he shook his head, a soft breath leaving his lips as he played his part, despite the fact that he truly was appreciative. That conflicted the Decepticon spy and he tried to push it back into a vault he’d never open. 

“It’s the least I can do. Anything, if you need some energon, oil, just a friendly face to talk to. I’m here.” He laughed softly then, giving the other mech a sheepish look. “If I become overbearing, just let me know.”
