It had been one of ‘those’ days. The type where it felt as if the world was crushing down around him. He’d even refused to get up and go to classes for that day, choosing to stay curled up in bed with Maha for the majority of the day. It was nice. It was warm. It was safe.
But eventually, he was pulled out of his bed by the need to eat something and to feed his cat. He wasn’t about to allow her to suffer just because he was. Besides, this type of mood was rather rare. No doubt she was just confused by the type of behaviors he was currently displaying. He sighed softly. He hated when he felt this way but at least he was alone and could wallow in some self pity. Tomorrow would be better...
But then something strange had happened. Seto had appeared at his door, out of the blue and for a few moments Atem just froze, gazing towards the ceo in slight confusion.
“Erm... eh come in” he laughed weakly, aware of just how he must look - no make-up, hair that spoke of not seeing a brush that day and darkish circles appearing under his eyes - he was a mess and he knew it. No comment was made though and he showed the way over to his sofa - somewhat glad that he had taken the time to clean up last night before bed. He might look a mess but the apartment looked rather clean.
He smiled a little more, relaxing as he settled into the host mode, tying back his hair to make it look a little better as they engaged in short but enjoyable conversations. It was maddening to some degree to. Why was he feeling the most alive just by Kaiba being close? Maybe it was due to the believe Kaiba wouldn’t ask too many questions, wouldn’t ask the one that he feared hearing from any of them.
‘Do you wish that you had passed over?’
It was a question he asked himself but one that he feared the answer of - and now that he sat here talking about such small things with his rivial - he found himself relaxed and dare he say happy for the first time in forever - which may be the reason as to why he somewhat panicked when Seto went to leave - the words falling from his lips before he could stop himself, cheeks burning with colour as he forced himself to meet Seto’s gaze.
Oh gods. What must he be thinking of him at the moment? “I-I mean yes? If you want to?” he gave a weak smile as he tried but failed to come up with a reason. He really enjoyed the others company. He enjoyed not being reminded that he died so long ago. He enjoyed being known as Atem and not some type of Yami impersonator...But was it fair to cling onto Seto for support? “...I would love the company if I’ve to be honest. I’ve missed just talking to you...” And the others to some degree but it was true that he barely seen Seto lately.
Though that could do with Atem never wishing to go outside if he could get away with it.
“Do you wish to stay?” he asked again, slowly walking over towards Seto and gently taking hold on one of his hands, “...you feel hot? Are you getting sick?”
