“Hey! Hey, María!” Jack waved as he looked up and saw her passing by, jogging to catch up to her on the sidewalk. “Hey -- so I know you’s prob’ly busy but listen -- I need your help. I can’t ask any of the fellas or I’d never hear the end of it, okay? An’ don’t tell anyone else. Okay? I’m serious.”
Once he was sure both that she was listening and that she wouldn’t blab, he looked around to see if anyone else was watching and pulled two folded pieces of paper out of his back pocket, fiddling with them but not unfolding them yet. “So. Y’know, as a girl, which do ya like better? This one --” and he carefully unfolded the first to reveal a pencil sketch of the city skyline -- “or this one?” The second one was a portrait of Katherine, also done in pencil. “I dunno -- maybe could be wierd to get a picture of your own face? What do ya think?”
