(🐈) Was it weird for Iza to keep an eye on some kid he didn’t exactly know? Maybe. Could he help it? No. It wasn’t his fault that he is particularly protective over them, considering he doesn’t want what happened to him happen to them. Is it likely that it would happen to this small blond boy? No. Would Iza leave that to chance? Also no. When they sat on the bench, Iza figured, what could possibly go wrong and sat on the other end.

Did he feel weird about the situation? Yeah he did. So, he spoke up, “Did your parents lose you?”

  “Careful.” Jiang Cheng says, hand reaching out to stop the other from moving forward, just as a woman came running through, pushing a cart of fruit. She wasn’t paying attention and ended up crashing into another passerby with a shriek. With a roll of eyes, Jiang Cheng glances away, scoffing. He did one good deed today anyways.

“A kiss on the cheek,” she said, her legs wrapping around her friend’s waist, her chin resting on Tony’s shoulder. “Or a real kiss--nah scratch that, kiss on the cheek.” she teased, blowing air into his ear.

  “What do you want?” His voice, although harsh, tremoring with anger-- Jiang Cheng was more relaxed to see the other male than he would admit. Relaxed at least, in the comforts of his own home. Where he could shift away when being around Wei Wuxian became too much.  

  “I’m busy.” He wasn’t, but Jiang Cheng makes a show of waving his hand over towards a desk stacked with letters and scrolls. . . most things he had already finished.

The younger telepath scoffed, her hand pressing into her cheek. “Oh come on, Xavier, don’t be so moody. It’s your birthday! You deserve a few kisses.”

“I know that you’re scared.”

 Brows furrow as he heard the other speak. There’s no shift in his expression, one of rage, a snarl ripping from his throat as Jiang Cheng speaks in return:

   “I’m not scared.” 

For what reason did he have to be afraid? Whispers of his past, of nightmares that still haunted his dreams threatened to spill into his mind, breaking past the hiss of anger when he turns away from the other. 

 “I’m not.”

 Fiddles with Zidian, with a scowl on his face as he attempted to settle his glare into something less of one.
