Jaime Lannister had learned the hard way that a 700 mile journey with a pregnant woman might have been less traumatic had they chosen a mode of transport other than a car.
He'd thought it would be exciting, making the journey from Casterly Rock to Dorne with his fiancée, their last before the arrival of their baby girl, and yet what should have been a journey of around fifteen hours, it had taken them the better part of two days, thanks to the frequent need for bathroom breaks and rests. At least the owner of the villa Jaime had hired for them understood the circumstances and allowed them to change their booking, albeit with Jaime parting with a further thousand gold dragons in the process (a fact he did not intend on making Iren privy to).
When they do finally arrive, Jaime is beyond exhausted. The moment the owner leaves them, he collapses upon the king-sized bed with a sigh, gesturing for Iren to join him.
"We'll fly here next time," he murmurs into her hair as he pulls her close. "Although I don't think I ever wish to leave...I never want to drive so far again."
