Jasper had barely been on the bus ten minutes, before she heard it. Malachite, her two year old daughter, had started to cry. No matter what Jasper tried, comforting her, rocking her, even offering her a bottle and a rattle, nothing was working. She could feel the glares from the people on the bus around her, but she ignored them. Most of them probably didn’t know how hard having a baby that was sensitive to literally everything it seemed was.
She still held Malachite, sitting her child on her knee facing outwards, holding her with one am, and pointing out the window, occasionally saying things like “Look Malachite, a horse!” and “Look, sheep!” Nothing seemed to be calming that kid down, though.
