Escaping Neverland came with a price, as magic always did. It was agonizing. They don’t call it “Never Land” for nothing. The Jolly Rodger had taken a slight beating but it wasn’t going to stop Killian Jones from finally taking back what was his.
Revenge.
With the poison brewed for the crocodile he was determined to smite the man down from where he stood. Milah’s death wouldn’t be in vein. Through taverns, whispers and travelers, Killian caught drift of the Dark One’s location. perhaps it was foolish of him but he was filled with determination and a blind need for vengeance.
Without his ship, the journey cost time, effort and the occasional run ins with people he really had no interest in dealing with. The word deal itself sickened him thanks to the monster that caused him all of this grief.
In the far distance, a looming tower stood. Ivy crept up and around, making the place look rather abandoned. The stones felt cold, the cobble surrounding the path had turned green and mossy from years of disrepair. It threw Killian off the trail, to his disappointment. Surely, the big-bad-Dark-One would live somewhere extravagant. Not a single speck would be out of place, as if to mock the ones he has betrayed or hurt.
Taking bold steps forward, Killian couldn’t waste his time any further. If this place was abandoned, surely there could be something inside that could be valuable enough to fix his ship. In no way could he leave his ship in such an awful state. It meant the world to him. The matter stood that if this was the castle the dark one kept himself in, Killian was both ready for something or nothing.
Should the crocodile, Rumpelstiltskin, be here. He was ready to fight him off until he could be poisoned. Arriving at the door, the pirate noticed it was locked, but it didn’t stop him from finding his way inside.
The tower. This damned tower. Emma knew every inch of it from her locked room: every grove of the stone, every spec of sizable debris, each twist in the grain– all of it. The time she’d spent locked away here was maddening, company kept to the minimum of a guard visiting to make sure she stayed alive and nothing more. Most often they waited until she was asleep before bothering to drop off scraps of food or clean up anything, left to rot in solitude.
Her dreams did her no better. While the world beyond this realm was free and diverse, it always ended the same. She’d wake up with a sense of longing, a bit of purpose only to remember it isn’t real. There was no family, no boy she wanted to make smile. No town she wanted to protect. What could she protect anyway?
The sound of boots was new, the slightest dip of the wooden floor and the sound of heels knocking brought her head around. Her body twisted next, heavy chains sounded like drums against the floor as they slipped over one another while she rolled over to her front, slowly getting to her feet. She’d not walked in what felt like months, her legs weak as she rose up, locking eyes on the door and the person whose boots where not heavy enough to be the guard.
