Stepping forward, Jak flexes his fingers, limbering up for what he expected to be a tough fight. Ahead of him, at the distance of five or so metres was a short drop that led directly into the heart of a metal head nest taken over by the dark invaders towards the end of the last war for the city. From what he could remember of it during his stint as the Underground’s courier, it had been a popular spot.
“Wish this wasn’t our only opinion,” he’d say, pace slowing drastically as he neared the edge of the rooftop. And it wasn’t for lack of trying, either. The city’s guard had tried their best to dislodge the creatures, zapping and torching the eggs they had laid until they adapted to the threat levelled against them. And devoured an entire squad of soldiers in the process.
Running low on options, Jak had eventually put forward an idea that wasn’t without significant risk. It would see him attempt to utilise his dark gift, transform for what he mercifully hoped would be a brief amount of time to discharge a dark eco blast right in the heart of the enemy’s camp.
“Some will still survive.” It wasn’t so much a theory as a simple fact; even if he embraced the beast he wouldn’t be able to wipe them all out in one clean sweep. It is for this reason that he turns to Harper, imploring her to step in if he loses sight of their intended goal-- or even himself for that matter. “Be ready to light ‘em up if they do.”
