@unlawfulx - for science!
She should’ve known it was an ambush. Getting Bucky away from the compound, and then the others leaving on a mission, it was classic. A ploy she’d used one too many times before herself. But she’d gotten comfortable, thinking Hydra had been taken down for good. Oh, how wrong had she been, how wrong had they all been. They had caught her off guard, running errands, and the sedative they used had been rather successful. She woke up, hanging off a ceiling with her hands tied above her, and her head felt like it was filled with cotton balls. Blinking slowly, hoping it would sharpen her vision, the blonde glanced around. The rooms she was in didn’t look familiar, it was dark, until the harsh lights suddenly came on, blinding her once again.
When the stars left her sight, she looked at the men, snarling. It was rather easy to recognize why they’d gotten her, the Hydra logo on their pins a dead giveaway. But what she hadn’t anticipated was her cellphone in the hands of one of them.
“Oh look, she’s awake,” came the menacing voice of a man who stood back behind the others, indicating he was the brain behind all of this, the men in front of him serving as nothing but a human shield. “Now let’s see if she’s really as stupid as she looks.” And surely, they unlocked her phone using the thumbprint on her right hand, appearing to be scrolling through her contacts.
“Barton, Clint. Not who we are looking for. Ah. There he is.” And that’s when the familiar tone of an outgoing video call reached her ears. Remaining silent, she stared the man down, knowing exactly who they were dialing, and hoping he wouldn’t answer.
