Harry might have been the prophesized savior of the wizarding world, but was that really the most important thing? Harry had lived all but a year of his life with a part of Voldemort's soul pressed up against his. When it comes down to it, is it any surprise that that wins?
Harry defects, offering himself to Voldemort rather than sacrificing himself for people who don't seem to have a moment to spare for worrying about his safety or wellbeing. Surely, being on the Dark side can't actually be worse.
