Werner’s eyes widen when Thomas confirms his suspension and he quickly steps to the side of were he was standing before. He looks down at the ground and replied,

“No, but it seems a bit disrespectful doesn’t it, Mr. Cryptozoologist?”

“You didn’t know,” Thomas reminded the other.  “And you moved, after all.  You’re probably not going to get haunted.”

“If you do, I know like seven different ways to dispel attached spirits so, sooner or later?  You’ll be fine.  Maybe apologize if you’re that worried.  Even the dead can appreciate an apology.”

“How about I open the door and you walk in first?”

“One of these days you’re going to have to stop using me as a shield,” Thomas pointed out.  “For now, though?  I’ll walk in first.”  He stepped to the shut door, swiftly spinning on his heel to face Werner.

“If you close the door after me before I get the lights on, I am going to hunt you down later.”

“Can I use the jacuzzi hot tub we’ve been blessed with?”

“If you don’t mind sharing.  I didn’t even know we had one of those, but now that I do, I plan on staying at least thrice the recommended time in there.”

“Not safe, but neither is sprinting after unidentified beasts into the woods with nothing but the moon to light your path.  I’m a pro at not safe.”

“I’m saying just because something’s old, doesn’t mean its bad.”

“You don’t have to tell me twice.”

“After all, I think you’re pretty great.”

[virullent]

“Yeah, I got the chills even just thinking about it.”

“It is pretty odd, but…it’s just a triple murder and a couple unexplained disappearances.  It’s probably not cursed land or anything.”

"Wait, am I standing on his grave?"

He swept his gaze across the area surrounding before again checking the gps gripped tightly in hand.  As best he could tell, Werner stood at the exact point they’d hiked out to over the past several hours.

“Congratulations,” he started, gesturing to the ground at Dremerhaven’s feet. “You’ve found him!”

“That doesn’t bother you, does it?  You have intimate knowledge of graves, don’t you, Mr. Archaeologist?”  The man’s brow arched.  “Dr. Archaeologist…?”

Had the team’s cameras been rolling, Thomas would have turned to look directly at them.  He took a deep breath, brushing snow from his shoulders and pulling his jacket tighter around himself before addressing Dremerhaven.

“Right.  What’s your suspicion about that then?” He asked, raising a gloved hand over Werner’s maps to point sharply at the massive stone structure the next peak over.  “Because my suspicion is…wolves?  Bears?”

“But my gut says I don’t care.”
